Spreading Smiles at Derby Royal Children’s Hospital

Recently, The Sweet Guys had the absolute privilege of visiting Derby Royal Children’s Hospital to deliver over £500 worth of donations, including freeze-dried sweets, toys, stationery, and festive Christmas hats. It was one of those moments that reminds you exactly why community matters.

This visit wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from our customers and community. Every single person who donated to help gift a child some sweets played a direct part in making the day special. From the moment we arrived, it was clear just how much the donations meant — not just to the children, but to the staff too. Smiles all round, genuine gratitude, and a really uplifting atmosphere throughout the wards.

One of the most heart-warming sights was seeing the kids happily playing with the donated toys while proudly wearing the Christmas hats that were gifted. Small moments like that carry a huge amount of meaning, especially in a hospital setting. It brought a bit of festive cheer, distraction, and joy into an environment where those things can make a real difference.

The hospital staff were incredibly welcoming and thankful, and it was clear how passionate they are about creating the best possible environment for the children in their care. During our visit, we had some great conversations with the team and exchanged details to explore how we can continue working together going forward.

We’re especially excited about the possibility of hosting a dedicated Sweet Guys live show in support of Derby Royal Children’s Hospital. The aim would be to help raise donations specifically for the sensory unit they are currently building — a space designed to support children who benefit from calming, sensory-friendly environments. It’s a brilliant initiative, and one we’d love our community to be part of.

Giving back has always been important to us, and this visit has only strengthened that commitment. Seeing first-hand the impact that collective kindness can have is something we won’t forget anytime soon.
